Whatever your answer is above, you will have to feel the pinch from the current biting Matatu crisis that has caused people to trek to work on Monday morning across the country.

Kenyans from all walks of life congregated at various matatu staged only to be slapped with high fares from the few available means on the lucky cases while some opted to make better use of their feet.

While some believe that this is a step in the right direction, some believe that this deserved better planning so that commuters would not be inconvenienced in the process of implementation.

From that images and interviews conducted across the country, Kenyans were not a happy lot and they indeed feel punished. They however feel that it is necessary to have the short time problem that lose lives.

Kenya Railways has today  introduced additional trips on their commuter service routes. This announcement comes on day one of the national  matatu strike that was triggered by the reinstating of the Michuki rules.

Kenyans have sought to the Railway transport as an alternative means of transport. Although some have raised concerns over overloading on the trains.. this concern will be covered, with the additional trips.

This move by Kenya Railways is with the intention to help ease transportation in the city.

The nation wide strike is to oppose the enforcement of the  ‘Michuki rules’. Rules that were named after Mr John Njoroge Michuki, who was the first Transport Minister in the National Rainbow Coalition government.

Some Kenyans have been forced to walk, candidates who are currently sitting for their KCSE exam risk getting late and those with medical emergencies have been greatly affected by this strike.
