Mzee Mairu eulogized by grandson as the great mathematician

If your grandfather is alive, what’s the one thing you’re to him grateful for? And if he has left this earth, what’s that one thing you remember him for?

Well for Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy Musyoka, his grandfather had his way with numbers.

Speaking during the funeral of the late Mzee Peter Mairu Musyoka, Kalonzo Musyoka’s father at his home in Kalimani, Tseikuru, Kennedy Musyoka pointed out his grandfather’s strength in mathematics saying that his knowledge in the subject helped him run a shop which he used to support his family.

“He was an astute mathematician after he acquired knowledge in Mombasa where he worked as a casual labourer at the Kilindini Port. This ability served him well especially as a shopkeeper,” he stated.

Just like President Kenyatta said in his speech, Kennedy Musyoka also emphasized the late Mzee Musyoka’s love for his large family.

“Mzee married his first wife, the late Sarah Musyoka in the late forties and they were blessed with two children, the late Lilian Muthui and Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, my father. He later married his second wife, mama Agnes Muli Musyoka with which they were blessed with 11 children,” he stated.

The President urged leaders to work together as one serve the people of Kenya.

“We are elected to serve Kenyans so let us work together and ensure we unite all Kenyans,” he said.

Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga were also in attendance with several cabinet secretaries, MP’s and Senators from a across the country.

Among other leaders present at the funeral were Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Senators James Orengo, Mutula Kilonzo, Kipchumba Murkomen, Governors Charity Ngilu, Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana, Granton Samboja, among leaders are also at the funeral.
