He is Back! Ruto Jets back to Obado’s Migori

If you thought you had seen the last of deputy President William Ruto in Nyanza and in particular in Migori, you are so wrong. The deputy head of state is set to pitch camp in the region this weekend as he is set to launch another project.

The DP will be at Governor Obado’s backyard to officially open a technical training institute at Kandege in Kuria East then preside over a fundraiser in aid of over 20 churches in the region.

According to Kuria East MP Marwa Maisori Kitayama, who is coordinating the visit, the Deputy President will be in the region to “fulfil his promise of officially opening the TTI” besides helping to fundraise.

“Plans to welcome the DP in Kuria are already complete. His visit is a follow-up of a promise he made when he visited the region two months ago. This time, he will be coming to commission the Kendege Technical Training Institute and lead a funds drive for churches in the region,” Mr Kitayama said.

The DP will not launch the much anticipated Isibania-Kehancha-Kegonga-Ntimaru Road, which he said Mr Ruto requested to be pushed to next year.

The expected launch of the road, which links Migori to Narok County, had excited locals who are hopeful that the road will open up the remote region to investors.

In his Monday visit to Suna West, Mr Ruto commissioned Muhuru-Suna-Kehancha Road and also launched a street lighting project at Masara.

However, the tour was largely criticised by ODM politicians, who claimed Mr Ruto did not invite them as his mission was to advance his 2022 political ambition.

During his last visit to Migori, the deputy President asked opposition leader Raila Odinga’s followers to support the government’s development project.

Ruto also asked elected leaders to shun petty politics and embrace the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila.

The DP said the good relations between the government and the opposition through the handshake would result in an equal initiation of projects across the country including in the opposition strongholds.

“All leaders should join hands, speak in unison and work together to enhance service delivery. We can only better lives through unity of purpose; dedication to duty and engaging in politics of development,” said Ruto.

In a veiled attack on Nyanza leaders who had snubbed his event, the DP said that no one should think they had more say than Uhuru and Raila.

Si munaona ata Agwambo amekubali tushirikiane, kama Agwambo amekubali tushirikiane wewe ni nani hapa katikati kutuambia ya kwamba hatuwezi kushirikiana (You have seen even Agwambo (Raila’s nickname) has agreed that we work together. If Raila has agreed for us to work together, who are you to say that we cannot work together?),” he said.
