Could Citizen TV’s Joey Muthengi be walking out of the Royal Media Services gate for good?
Well, rumor has it that the Day Break host and Willis Raburu’s partner-in-crime in their 10/10 Friday night show on Citizen TV has called it quits.
According to sources, Joey Muthengi allegedly handed in her resignation on Wednesday after she was summoned for disciplinary action.
The trouble all started when the TV host did an advertisement with betting company, Betin which is considered a rival of Royal Media Service’s own betting company, Shabiki. According to sources, Joey Muthengi was considered a Citizen TV brand and therefore was not meant to be promoting a rival company.
Joey Muthengi and football star Mc Donald Mariga recently signed a six-figure deal with Betin and have since become the company’s brand ambassadors with TV advertisements and bill boards all over.
Earlier in the year, Joey spent time in Italy shooting adverts with Kenyan footballer McDonald Mariga which have been running on local and continental TV stations. Rumours have it that Mariga signed a Ksh. 8 million year-long deal with Betin in 2017 to feature in the firm’s adverts.
According to sources, Joey has given the media house a four-day notice before her exit.
Joey Muthengi is a media personality, rapper, actress and sister to Citizen TV’s Bambika Host, David Muthengi popularly known as Holy Dave. Joey was previously a radio presenter on 98.4 Capital FM from 2009-2013 where she hosted the popular youth show ‘Hits Not Homework’ with her co-host Solo.
In June 2016, she is was part of the Day Break, the newly re-branded ‘Power Breakfast’ show where she until today, co-hosts the daily show with Fred Indimuli and Willis Raburu.
She also hosts the late night 10/10 show on Friday night with Willis.
