PHOTOS: BBC officially launches Nairobi Bureau

Today history has been made as BBC  launched its largest bureau outside  the UK in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.  Having launched at least 6 programmes so far.

Several leaders and media personalities graced the launch and took to social media to show a sense of pride since this is an indicator of growth, both in the media industry as well as in Kenya’s economy.

The new facility has close to 300 of the 600 BBC journalists working across Africa.

According to the Director of the BBC news their great investment will be training the next generation of Africa journalist to world class standards.

The studio will host a new show titled ‘Money Daily’, which will be the first show by the international media house to broadcast everyday from Africa.

The target audience are business enthusiast who feel left out by the business stories it also aims at helping the audience to make financial decisions which will be helpful to them.  Apart from having the business headlines the show will also capture the reactions as well as experiences of various African entrepreneurs.

This launch comes days after Larry Madowo  launched a business show that is expected to pitch different business ideas across different African countries on BBC TV following his appointment as the head of business desk.

The show will give viewers an in-depth look at current money and business topics from across Africa, as well as offer practical and inspirational financial advice from African entrepreneurs.

This move by BBC will also be a wake up call and keep other media houses on toes to deliver since the Industry has only become more competitive.

Kenyans are also looking forward to greatly benefit from it in terms of consumption of media programs as well as employment opportunities for the Kenyan youth aspiring to join the media world.
