‘Let the Money come’ Why Ruto Promised to Fundraise After Meeting Obado

‘Mgeni njoo mwenyeji apone’.Deputy President William Ruto landed in Migori County and immediately promised to hold a fundraiser in moments after meeting governor Okoth Obado.
Speaking on Monday in Nyanza the Deputy President promised to champion for development in the region.

He further pledged to return to Migori County in February 2019 to conduct a fundraiser for all churches in the area.

The DP also affirmed the Jubilee administration’s pledge to put aside politics and initiate development projects in the opposition stronghold.

Speaking at the Maranatha Church Assembly DP Ruto stated: “We want to build one united country without political or tribal bias.”

ODM MPs skip DP Ruto’s event in Migori

Opposition allied MPs did not, however, attend the DPs event with only two MPs attending.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed had earlier on claimed that he had been left in the dark and not infomed of DP Ruto’s visit.

Notably, prior to his arrest and detention, Governor Obado was claimed to having strained ties with his ODM Party.

The trouble between ODM and Obado were seen to have begun when the former asked his supporters to vote for Federal Party of Kenya’s Eddy Oketch instead of ODM’s Ochillo Ayacko in the Senate by-election.

DP Ruto was also reported to have supported Oketch who lost to Ayacko after Obado vowed to campaign against him for receiving a direct nomination by ODM.

Migori residents and their Governor might have warmly welcomed DP Ruto but their leaders from the ODM party led by Senator Ochillo Ayacko were no where close to Ruto’s events.

“We want those trying to bring politics into the development agenda to stop it,” said John Odera, a resident from Migori.

“We are happy that the DP is coming to visit us. We are happy because the road that he will be coming to commission will help us,’ he added.

At this rate I would want Mheshimiwa to visit my home town and host a Harambee too. Wouldn’t you?
