One can easily wonder what the role of a police officer is, which all know as keeping law and order. But now, isn’t bhang illegal in Kenya? This means that it is against the law to be in possession of an illegal drug.

However, Kenyans are in a shock after two police officers were on Monday  arrested with 7.5 grammes of bhang in Samburu.

The officers were driving in a private car from Moyale to Isiolo when they were captured.

“The two include a recruit and his instructor at Kiganjo. They were intercepted at Archers Post roadblock.”

The officers said they had received intelligence report and erected the roadblock to nab the suspects.

“We received an intelligence from an informer that a vehicle suspected to be ferrying bhang from Moyale was heading towards Isiolo direction along Moyale- Isiolo highway. The vehicle registration KAQ 746F make Toyota 110 was seized,” he said.

Debate to legalize bhang in Kenya has been going with several legislators trying to present bills in the parliament to have the drug legalised.

The Kibera member of parliament has even opted to table a bill in parliament to consider legalizing of Marijuana in Kenya.

Other countries have legalized the use of Marijuana latest African country being South Africa.

The Canadian government is confident there will be enough marijuana to pass around despite concerns of a looming supply shortage as the nation rolls out legal sales next week. This comes after it joined countries such as Uruguay to legalize the use of Marijuana.

Most Kenyans have expressed their opinion which the government right now has turned a deaf ear about the debate of Marijuana legalization in the country. Though the Kibra law maker argues that there should be a control bill to control the use, psychiatrists in Kenya have still opposed the move. If the police are now the ones being nabbed, do you think it should be legalised?
