Obado is a free man on bond after weeks in court for murder charges , but even before the storm calms , Obado is in the headlines again for what he signed up for , politics .
Speaking for the first time after his release, governor Okoth Obado thanked the High Court for releasing him as he now had the chance to continue serving those who elected him.
”This has given me an opportunity to effectively work for the people of Migori as their governor.
He further urged leaders to embrace unity and focus on development,and this words seem to have penetrated one of the highest office in the country.
The deputy president William Ruto was on Monday hosted by the embattled governor Okoth Obado in Nyanza where the latter is seeking to make inroads.
While many interpreted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks at DP William Ruto (Tanga Tanga Movement ) as an insult, the latter may have taken advantage and formed a political movement.
The Deputy President said the Jubilee administration, which has had warm relations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) since the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga on March 9 this year, will initiate development projects in the opposition stronghold.
“We want to build one united country without political or tribal bias,” Mr Ruto said at the Maranatha Church Assembly in Migori town.
Mr Ruto said he will make more development tours in Nyanza region and pledged to return to Migori County in February next year to conduct a fundraising for all the churches in the region.
The Deputy President spent Sunday night at the Rusinga Lodge in Homa Bay County after spending the weekend in Western Kenya where he presided over several public functions.
Previously, Mr Ruto only visited Kisii, Nyamira, Kuria West and Kuria East, the only Nyanza areas that in the past leaned towards Jubilee Party.
Although political elites have attributed the move by embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado to host DP Ruto as pure 2022 politics, Ruto maintains he is focused on development .
Ruto’s allies in Nyanza, have been calling on him to visit Kisumu and market his 2022 Presidential bid. Nyanza branch Jubilee secretary general Mr Steve Biko asked Ruto to reach out to all communities as he steps up his Presidential bid.
”We want to see a more inclusive approach exhibited by Ruto as he lobbies rest of Kenyans to back his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Biko said He spoke as it emerged that a Catholic Church has invited the Deputy President for a fundraiser in September 2018.
