Have you ever been threatened before? Then imagine being told the threats are nothing real but only dreams by your enemy to the public and even the authorities.

Speaking to journalists in Siaya town yesterday, an MCA claimed that on Wednesday last week Governor Rasanga called and threatened him.

According to the MCA, Rasanga told him “enough was enough” and that he should be prepared to face his wrath. But Mr Rasanga has denied Oriaro’s claims, saying he has never threatened the MCA.

“I have never called Oriaro. I have never threatened him. I think he is dreaming,” said Rasanga. A senior CID officer handing the matter confirmed that Mr Oriaro had recorded a statement under OB number OB24/2/11/18.

Mr Leonard Oriaro of Central Alego ward, on Friday recorded a statement with the Police, over claims the governor had threatened to harm him for criticizing his government.

“We have received his complaints and he already recorded statements yesterday, ” said the officer who sought anonymity.

The assassination of Thomas Joseph Mboya in 1969 and that of Josiah Mwangi (JM) Kariuki in 1975 marked the beginning of a dark chapter in the country’s history and heralded a chronology of murders. They triggered a string of investigations and inquests that would gobble up billions of shillings in taxpayer money but deliver nothing in terms of justice for the victims and value for money for the Kenyan public.

In the recent past, Governor Cornel Rasanga has denied claims from critics that he has embezzled funds meant for bursary for the financial year 2017/2018. The Governor instead blamed a delay in treasury for the slow disbursement of funds that frustrated the bursary project that should benefit bright and needy students.

Speaking in Gem Siaya County, Rasanga said that contrary to claims that he had embezzled the funds, he was confident the bright and needy students who had applied for it would benefit soon.

“There are people spreading very bad rumors about me. I cannot misuse money meant for the electorates. The bursary funds are there and will soon be disbursed fully. There is no single cent that will get lost or misused,” he said.

Do you think Oriaro is telling the truth?
