Okoth Obado Reshuffles Cabinet After Stint in Jail

Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Wednesday made changes to his cabinet soon after a 34-day stint in jail.

Obado, who returned to work this week, also chaired his first cabinet meeting since coming back.

Several departments were affected by the reshuffle with Obado’s administration announcing that more changes would be communicated.

Dominic Akugo who served as Director in Charge of Administration in the Governor’s office was moved to the Education Ministry in the same capacity.

He takes over from Lazarus Ogutu currently battling corruption charge

Edward Kabaka Onchenge was appointed Chief Officer for the Water and Energy department.

He replaces Donald Jaleny who was moved to the Monitoring and Evaluation department.

Migori Communication Director Nicholas Anyuorstated that more changes would be effected, maintaining that they were only meant to boost service delivery.

“There are some changes that are still under way, which will be communicated in appropriate time,” he stated.

Alongside two of his aides, Obado is charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno on September 3.

He was released on a Sh5m bond with two sureties of a similar amount.

His co-accused – Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were denied bail.
