Man United ruling the world! Rooney& Zlatan to compete for top honours

Former Manchester United strikers, Wayne Rooney, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been shortlisted for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after their outstanding debut season in the Major Soccer League (MLS) for DC United and LA Galaxy respectively.

Ibrahimovic is nominated for three awards following his stellar campaign that saw him notch 22 goals and 10 assists which proved to be not enough as LA Galaxy failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The three awards that the Swede is in the running are, Landon Donovan MVP award, the MLS Newcomer of the Year and MLS Comeback Player of the Year.

Former Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has been nominated in two awards, the MVP and Newcomer prizes after inspiring DC United to a playoff spot.

The winner for each award will be voted for by MLS players, MLS club technical staffs and a select group of media representatives.
