Dagoretti North Member of parliament Simba Arati has said that he is eyeing a gubernatorial seat in 2022 but was unsure of where to run.
The outspoken legislature who has always led huge demonstrations across the town is now interested to be the county boss and replace Mike Sonko who hinted he is not interested to vie for the second term.
He however indicated that he was more familiar with the politics in Nairobi and therefore he would be more comfortable running in Nairobi.
“It is here in Nairobi that I have done a lot for the people. I have a good understanding of how politics is played in Nairobi. In 2022, be it Nairobi or Kisii, I shall be the governor but the decision will be made at that time,” held Simba Arati.
Simba Arati who is a strong member of ODM party has declared his plans for future politics of Nairobi as several other leaders also eye for the same position. Dr.Miguna Miguna is also expected to contest for the same position if allowed back in the country. Also ODM lawyer Sifuna who was defeated by Mike Sonko is expected to re-launch his bid to lead the city of Nairobi.
Babu Owino Member of Parliament for Embakasi East has also hinted for his next political move is to be the governor of Nairobi County. This pose a great discussion as the two are political allies under ODM.
This comes as the current Governor Mike Sonko has ever complained about cartels in the city who serve their own interests and are undermining the smooth running of the city.
Mike Sonko is even under pressure to appoint his deputy of which that position has remained vacant for the longest time.
Simba Arati has finally admitted that his wife is Chinese. He however said that that was a home affair and it did not affect his ability to lead his constituents.
“I married from Asia but these are private family matters. Whether my wife is from Thailand, China, Europe or wherever, it has not affected my ability to lead and deliver for the people. Obama’s father was a Kenyan and that did not stop him from being the US President,” stated Arati.
He said that those disqualifying him from a leadership role especially within the Abagusii community should know that he did not have to marry from his community so as to be considered a leader.
Infact he has insisted that he will use that to build and establish his political ground that will sail him to becoming the next governor of Nairobi.
