Kenyans wont love this! Spurs identifies Wanyama’s replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have singled out Ajax FC’s young midfielder Frenkie de Jong as the one player who could solve their midfield problems.

It is reported that head coach Mauricio Pochettino believes the 21 year old could help the side with regular midfielder Victor Wanyama, Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier drifting in and out of the squad due to injury and declining form.

Wanyama, in particular, has struggled with a knee injury sustained at the start of the previous campaign and has been restricted to bit part appearances this season.

The Harambee Stars captain featured in 36 games in his debut season for the North Londoners, missing just two games.

That figure reduced significantly in the follow up season to 18 games and this season he has featured only thrice in Tottenham’s nine games thus far, all being sub appearances.

De Jong has featured 50 times for Ajax since joining the side in 2016 from Willem II and is valued by the Dutch club at £71m.
