Its a sad tragedy as another KCSE candidate loses life before the kick start of the National exams on Tuesday.

It is reported that during the night the KCSE candidate was among two people who died in a road accident at Kamuthanga area along Machakos Kang’undo road. The other two sustained injuries and were rushed to Machakos level 5 hospital for treatment.

The four victims were on a motorbike that ferried them after watching a football match.Witnesses say the motorbike was speeding and hit a bump before losing control and crashing.

Their bodies have been transferred to Machakos Level Five hospital mortuary.

Just recently a KCSE candidate at Gaichanjiru Boys High School died on Saturday night, barely four days before start of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). The candidate is said to have collapsed while dancing with his colleagues in the school dining halls as part of the entertainment programme.

The school Principal Mr James Mbothu said the student had not shown signs of sickness and his friends reported he was jovial the whole day.

Mean while transport secretary James Macharia and his Interior counterpart Fred Matiang’i said Thursday in a joint statement public transport operators must fit their vehicles with speed gadgets and seat belts as well have a yellow continuous line by November 12.

The enforcement of the rules aims to curb accidents and indiscipline in the public transport sector. More than 2,214 people lost their lives in road accidents in the nine months to September, according to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

“Therefore, effective Monday, November 12, any PSV, drivers, Saccos or transport companies, passengers and other relevant parties that fail to comply with the provisions of the NTSA Act and the Traffic Act will be firmly dealt with in accordance with the law,” said the statement.

The reason why some areas in Nairobi have today faced shortage of vehicles coming to the CBD as the strict rules have instilled fear of being arrested if found in the wrong side of the law.
