Former NTV journalist Wambui Kabiru’s widower Moses Dola will today know his fate in regards to his wife’s manslaughter case. Dola was found guilty of manslaughter for causing the death of his wife Wambui Kabiru.

Kabiru, a former NTV reporter was found dead on May 11, 2011 in their house in Umoja estate

Dola was convicted of manslaughter on October 5 by High Court judge Roselyn Korir after the judge saw it fit to substitute his murder charge with manslaughter.

During the hearing, Police Inspector Charles Omwanda told the court that Kabiru’s body was on the bed with foam oozing from her mouth and blood from her nose and right ear.

He said Kabiru had a cut on the right side of her head and bloodstains on her pillow and the room appeared ransacked and her bedding was stained with blood but no door had been broken.

The judge noted that the there is no one who can say exactly what happened to the slain journalist on the fateful day because they were the only ones in the bedroom when the incident took place.

The judge, however, ruled that every evidence shows Dola indeed caused the death of his wife.

Dola once paid a moving tribute to her late wife and said he misses and will forever lover her. i

He wrote on Facebook, “Tears have never stopped rolling down my cheeks and only God knows why.  I feel like it would have been better if had been the one to go and be with the Lord,”

Dola shared a photo of the two of them, which he described as “the most memorable they ever had”.

“We were going to visit aunt Jemima Nindo and while passing by the office (NMG), my friend Dennis Okeyo took the photo,” he said.

“Our good friend Tom Otieno made sure the picture was framed and it so graced our living room.”

Dola said their son has grown into a fine young man who is a constant reminder of Kabiru.

Dola sentence delivery comes in a period when the country has been plunged into a series of gruesome murder cases with the most recent ones to catch the public’s attention being the Sharon and Monica Kimani’s murder.

Chief suspect in the Sharon Otieno murder was yesterday officially released on bail after adhering to all the laid out procedures regarding his 5 million shillings bail. Governor Obado finally tasted freedom after over a month in police custody.

Suspects in the Monica Kimani murder case; Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irungu are still in police custody awaiting a ruling on their bail application next week.

Moses Dola’s ruling is going to be a landmark one following the most recent ruling on a murder case involving beauty queen Ruth Kamande who was sentenced to death for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend Farid Mohammed 25 times. The landmark ruling was made by Justice Jessy Lesiit who is also the one handling Governor Obado’s case.

It remains to be seen the sentence that Justice Ruth Korir will hand to Journalist Dola.
