“Don’t worry, we got your back!” Citizen TV Comes to Maribe’s Rescue

In a shock turn of events, Citizen TV have demonstrated to other employers on how to back your employees even if they’re facing serious murder charges in the court of law.

Royal Media Services, the company that owns the TV station has said that the embattled journalist is still their employee despite being charged with killing Monica Kimani. They have also written to the High Court saying they support her release on bail.

RMS Managing Director Wachira Waruru has also said that Maribe has a clean record and her character over the six year she has been with the companu is not questionable.

“Having engaged her for the last six years, and assessing her performance, we hereby vouch for her character and recommend for her admission to bail,” he said in a statement released to news rooms.

The MD further said that their employee has taken leave to attend to personal issues and recommended that she be released on bail as she will not jump bail.

“Due to her exceptional performance she has been appointed to the position of Friday’s prime time news anchor on the station,” he said.

“She joined the company as a reporter on Citizen Television and was later promoted to the position of senior reporter on the same station. Arising from the promotion, she was assigned huge national and international events which she undertook successfully.”

The new development comes even as Maribe’s career hangs in the balance. The prosecution is pushing for the journalist to be barred from presenting news even if she is released on bail.

Maribe’s lawyer Katwe Kigen has however rejected the bid. He said the journalist should be let go as she has demonstrated cooperation. He also asked the judge to be lenient.

Maribe and her boyfriend Jowie have denied killing business woman Monica Kimani on the night of 19th September.

Monica’s body was found in a bathtub in her apartment in Lamuria Gardens along Denis Pritt road in Kilimani area. Her hands had been tied behind her body and her throat slit. According to her family, the 29 year old woman had been raped before being slaughtered.
