Huyu ni Kama amezoea Sukuma Wiki! Obado to spend one more night in Prison Despite Release

Governor Okoth Obado will eat Sukuma Wiki for one more night at the Industrial Area Police Remand depsit being released on Ksh  5 million bail on Wednesday.

And this is not because the governor loves the place, According to his lawyer Cliff Ombeta,  there was an issue with one of his sureties and having no time to handle that before the close of business, decided to deal with it on Thursday morning.

Obado deposited the Ksh.5 million cash bail and also presented two of his cars, a Toyota Prado and Toyota Land Cruiser V8 as sureties.

Other conditions for his release were that not go anywhere near the Sharon Otieno murder scene.

“He shall not go anywhere within 20Kms of Homabay County boundary on all sides of that county,” Justice Jessie Lessit warned.

The Migori County boss is facing a double homicide. He has been charged with killing his 26 year old girlfriend Sharon Otieno and his unborn son.

Sharon’s mutilated body was found in a thicket in Kodera forest on 5th September, two days after she had been lured to abduction by Michael Oyamo. Oyamo, an aide to Obado and Caspal Obiero another close associate to the governor have also been charged with the murder. They were denied bail.

On Wednesday, Lady Justice Lessit further warned Obado against communicating with the parents, siblings or rather any close relative of the deceased.

“The accused will refrain from contacting or intimidating whether directly or by proxy witnesses in this case,” she said, adding that he should not discuss the case in a political meeting or private gathering.

The Prosecution stated that they would be calling 30 witnesses in the case. The High Court judge further directed Obado to deposit travel documents and be reporting to the deputy registrar once a month.

The pre-trial hearing has been set for February 14, 2019. The hearing will then commence on May 6-17 the same year excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
