The lawmakers encouraged Obado and urged him to be strong as he faced a murder charge for the death of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno.

Obado blamed some of his colleagues for his woes and accused them of spreading propaganda in the villages.

“Some Member of Parliament are going to the villages and telling people that Obado has killed,” the Migori County boss lamented.

He maintained his innocence claiming that he was in Nairobi on the night Sharon was brutally murdered.

The county boss also asked the MPs to check on the state of inmates and do something about their living conditions.

Obado is expected back in court on Wednesday morning to know his fate on whether he will be released on bail or continue to spend more days in remand.

High Court judge Jessie Lesiit is expected to deliver her ruling on Obado’s bail application at 9 am alongside his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and Migori County Clerk Caspal Obiero.

The Migori governor has been behind bars at the Industrial Area Remand Prison since his arrest on September 21 in connection with the murder of Sharon, who was at the time seven months pregnant.

This is Obado’s second attempt at securing bail following his arrest.

His first attempt to have himself set free on bail flopped on September 27 when Justice Lessit declined the request citing uncertainty of the safety of witnesses in the murder trial.

While rejecting Obado’s application for bail, Justice Lesiit stated that the court was yet to see the witness statements and documentary evidence to be used in the case.

The judge further added that the court could not make a conclusive finding on issues raised by the prosecution, among them the security and the volatile situation in Migori County.
