A Look into Obado’s Orphan-Like Remand Life.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado might be a free man but he will not forget the happenings at Industrial area anytime soon even after the court granted him bail.

This follows a rather prolonged stay at the Industrial area Remand. The governor was granted a Kshs. 5 million cash bail and is also expected to pay two sureties of the same amount.

The governor might finally be joining his family and the great people of Migori but this is after enduring a tough period behind bars.

Prior reports made Kenyans believe that the governor was receiving VIP treatment, an allegation that Prison boss Isaya Osugo denied. The Prison boss said the county chief had the same accommodation, clothing, feeding, and visit arrangements like any other inmate.

A Video from a local media house has now emerged online. The Video gives a clear picture of what the county boss was actually going through before his release. The Governor looks so vulnerable and lonely.

In the video, Obado is seen putting on Prison uniforms just as the rest of the inmates. He is also seen having the same accommodation status as the rest.

Light seem to have finally shined on the former teacher after Justice Lesiit set him free but under very strict conditions. The governor was ordered to deposit his travel documents to court and was restrained him from going anywhere near the murder scene at the border of Migori and Homa Bay counties. “The accused shall not go anywhere within 20km of Homa Bay-Migori boundary and the court has the liberty to cancel your bail at any time,” Justice Lessit ruled.

Obado’s co-accused Michael Oyamo (personal assistant) and Migori County Clerk Caspal Obiero will remain in custody after being denied bail. Judge Lesiit ruled that the release of Oyamo and Obiero would cause fear and anxiety among members of the public. She also cited security concerns as part of the reasons why the two will remain at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.

Obado and his co-accused are facing two murder charges. One for killing his girlfriend Sharon Otieno and the other for killinh her unborn baby.

The late Sharon was finally laid to rest over the weekend with her family saying that the belief that they will soon get justice for their slain daughter informed their decision to finally lay her to rest.

“We have seen suspects connected to her murder arraigned in court. We are happy with the investigations so far and believe her killers will pay for their crimes,” Said Sharon’s Dad.

It is yet to be seen how Sharon’s family will react to Obado’s release but many Kenyans’s online have taken issue with Justice Lesiit’s decision to release Obado and detain Oyamo and Obiero.
