Kuria indicated that his name will be in the presidential ballot box and he will not throw his weight behind other candidates: “I will support myself for the Presidency”.

Alluding to his likely manifesto, Kuria iterated that his candidature will be driven by a resolve to address challenges facing Kenyans, including youth unemployment, fighting tribalism, and ensuring efficient service delivery in development and infrastructure projects.

Campaign for me. My symbol will be a spanner. I just want to speak my mind. If I have opposed you and you are from another tribe it is not because you are from a different area,” the Gatundu South MP stated.

Kuria further noted that the issues affecting Kenyans are far reaching and go beyond tribe or social status.

“Even if you look at the issues affecting this nation, they do not know tribe. The same hunger that is biting people in Gatundu is the same one that is biting someone else in Mombasa, Kisumu or wherever there is,” he added.

He further dispelled the notion that he is tribalistic indicating that this view is misguided.

“First of all, I have never talked badly about religion or tribe but the problem with the people I speak against, is that they describe me as a tribalist, thief, corrupt.

“I think their symbol needs to be a brush. When you join them, they paint you white when you leave them they paint you black. I am not a tribalist,” he quipped.

On his relationship with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against whom he has made scathing attacks in the past, Kuria described him as a “very good friend of his”.

“Raila is my great buddy. I like the guy and I think the Right Honorable likes me as well. You only need to be where we both are, and you will have the time of your life. Not all the time we agree but there are times we have agreed in the past,” the controversial politician noted.

The Gatundu South legislator has in the past expressed his support for Deputy President William Ruto‘s 2022 presidential bid.

Kuria also revealed that he first worked for Raila in 1997 during the Presidential Campaigns.

“I was a 26-yr- old and Raila was going for the Presidency for the first time. And he wanted to know particularly how the Mt Kenya region would vote and if they would support him.

“He commissioned two young men to give him advice and I was one of them,” Kuria recalled.
