Kenyans on twitter have reacted following the announcement by Airtel Kenya that they have hiked its data and SMS tariffs by 30 cents and 10 cents respectively as a result of increase in excise duty, other taxes and rising input costs.
Seems like other telecommunication firms are following suit after Safaricom announced their hike in tarrifs a week ago.
Airtel, however, said it will not increase its mobile money transfer tariffs. The announcement was made via a public notice which was shared by the firm on their social media platforms.
“In view of the recent increase in excise duty, other taxes and rising input costs, we are constrained to increase our headline voice and data tariffs by 30 cents each and our SMS tariff by 10 cents effective from midnight tonight. Despite this increase, our tariffs remain the most competitively priced. We have also ensured that the prices of all voice and data bundles including Unliminet, Tubonge and Amazing Data bundles remain unchanged,” reads statement in part

It amazes me how you can reply to everyone’s tweet here to even an extent of entertaining all the flattering comments shows how you really value your customers. Corporations out there should learn something from this. Good job
