CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board, Ezekiel Mutua earned the title of ‘moral police’ for trying to police internet usage in the country. Every time the CEO has come out to speak, he has come under fire especially amongst the online community.
Early this year, the self appointed moral policeman attempted to charge Kenyans for sharing content online after it emerged that the KFCB required YouTube users to apply for a licence to post a video online. Just recently, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua received public backlash after he banned the Kenyan film ‘Rafiki’ saying that it was promoting homosexuality which is illegal in Kenya.
Dr. Ezekiel Mutua was on the Hot 96 FM breakfast show with Jeff Koinange and Professor Hamo, discussing the role of Kenya Film and Classification Board in content regulation and protection of children from exposure to harmful content. For the first time, KOT appeared to be in agreement with the moral cop.
Listening to @EzekielMutua and @JeffKoinange their pride and zeal for Kenya is contagious. We are a great country; let's celebrate Kenya.

I love listening to #JeffAndHamoOnHot96FM and today they had invited @EzekielMutua who had a conversation on cyber security. It was a very informative conversation. "In some countries you can't view some sites" we need to go this way as a country.

I in many occasions agree with @EzekielMutua. The kind of material readily available for viewing by our children online would worry anybody that cares for Morality in society. The way violence and immorality is raising among our young people is worrying. #EzekielMutuaOnHot96FM
