Monica Kimani’s family fight back in court

The family of slain businesswoman Monica Kimani has come out opposing the of their daughter’s murder suspects Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irungu alias Jowie.

In an affidavit filed in court by the deceased’s brother on behalf of the family, they say they are living in fears since the brutal murder of their daughter and release of the suspects will only worsen the situation.

In addition, “The fact that the motive of my sister’s murder is unknown poses a greater danger to the family since we are not sure whether it could have been an onslaught against our family, which began with my sister.”

According to Kimani the  1st accused (Jowie) knows where the family live and therefore would risk their lives.

Jowie is being held as the key suspect in the gruesome murder of Monica who was found murdered at her house in Kilimani area on September 20 after arriving on September 19 from South Sudan.

Jowie and Maribe are expected to appear before Justice James Wakiaga on October 24 for a bail hearing.

Joseph Irungu’s lawyer Mugambi Laichena told the court they will file a supplementary affidavit in response to prosecution’s argument that the accused should not be released on bail.

Lawyer Mugambi Laichena has been granted the opportunity to file the supplementary affidavit on behalf of Irungu.

Appearing for Jacque Maribe, Lawyer Katwa Kigen however hinted at the possibility of filing more affidavits if need be. Public prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki also hinted at making another submission on the case. Your opinion is valuable.

When the prosecutor was asked for a rebuttal on order; Mwaniki said that her office had no problem since the accused had been treated at KNH.
