Get rid off criminals in the security departments.

Citizens are calling on the  government  to get rid off criminals  posing as security authorities  in the departments.

This comes after the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, October 17, arrested another  man masquerading as a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer.

According to the DCI, Erick Otieno Atanga has been defrauding the citizens with fake tenders while posing as an officer from Department of Defence (DOD) and had tagged himself as Colonel Kiprotich.

The suspect  is set to be arraigned in Court on today where he will be charged with obtaining money by false pretense.

This latest arrest comes at a time when crimes associated with military and police officers are on the rise.

On Wednesday, August 1, DCI arrested a man masquerading as National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer who had fraudulently acquired KSh 300,000 at Nyayo House

On Sunday October 14, DCI arrested Constable Kelvin Ndosi, who was involved in a failed carjacking and kidnapping incident. He is suspected to be a gang member of seven police officers terrorising Nairobi residents.

On Monday, October 15, DCI arrested a KDF officer who has been running an alleged abduction syndicate

The incidents have since raised concern on the state of security in the country as security officers are being involved in terror crimes.

Early this week the  Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi announced that the Interior Ministry is in the next six months set to undertake paramilitary training for assistant county Commissioners and chiefs who have not yet done so.

This follows a revelation that 440 assistant county Commissioners and 3,400 chiefs had not yet undertaken the mandatory paramilitary course.
