Justice Wakiaga’s stern warning to the media on Monica Kimani’s case

Justice Wakiaga, who is currently presiding over Monica Kimani’s  murder case has sent a stern warning to all media platforms covering Monica Kimani’s case. He gave a warning that they should stop publicizing stories that are of misleading content and not based on facts.

“My attitude towards these people (media) is negative!…Those statements that you keep on telling us about this case, stop writing them from now,” he said.

He also asked the prosecution to check on their team and point out those leaking information to the press.

Kenyans had initially raised concern saying that the some stories aired or published by the media happen to be twisted and insensitive while some details could be giving false information to the public, creating the wrong impression  or even compromise the handling of the case.

The prosecution  stated that they had written to various media houses complaining about some of the details in stories they had published.

Justice Wakiaga warned media houses that they would be held culpable if they write stories which were not yet brought before him and were based on unreliable sources.

The prosecution was also cautioned that and told that anyone who will be caught leaking information to the media will have to bear the consequences.

On the streets of social media, many have been sending mockery and judgmental comments without thinking of the consequences and the harm that can be caused to individuals in regard to the same.
Given this directive from court, bloggers and all media personalities are now expected to be cautious about what they share with the public.
