Governor Obado to face his fate as Court makes ruling

Slain Migori Governor Okoth Obado is expected to appear before justice Jesse Lessit on Friday morning for the bail hearing and determination on whether he will be freed or not.

The governor, his personal assistant Michael Juma Oyamo and Migori County assembly clerk Casper Obiero have been in custody for over a month now where the were charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her unborn child then later dumbed her helpless body at Kodero forest in Homabay County.

Earlier this week, the High Court in Nairobi allowed state prosecutors to merge the suspects’ murder cases.

Governor Obado has been  remanded  at Industrial Area Prison Remand after which has been characterised by illness, which has seen him admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital after developing stomach problems.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya and Ms Otieno’s mother have filed an application seeking to have the suspects detained until the trial is completed.

This comes afterb ODM leader distanced himself with Governor Obado’s woes insisting that the culprits of murder of young women to be procecuted.

“We all know what happened here pertaining to the heinous murder of the 26-year-old girl and her infant,” Mr Odinga said.

“The guilty must be made to pay for their sins. We cannot have such criminals free in the country.”
