Undercover mission done by Governor Sonko to nab corrupt hospital staff (Video)

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko went on an undercover mission early Sunday morning clad in a disguise in order to nab corrupt hospital staff at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

The 4 am spy mission saw the governor drape himself in a plaid flannel shaw and went around the hospital inspecting ambulances, wards and other facilities.

Governor Sonko conveyed that he had visited the hospital to ensure that the changes he ordered were still being implemented.

The governor was seen dishing out cash and supplies to the new mothers at the facility as has been his custom in previous visits.

The medics who were on call at the time finally discovered the governor and joined him in the inspection as they explained the situation.

At the end of his impromptu visit, the Governor seemed to have been satisfied with the standards at the hospital.

Governor Sonko took a keen interest in the maternity hospital after he discovered a number of dead infants who had been stored in carton boxes.

He immediately installed coolers at the facility to manage the crisis and later announced that he had partnered with the Aga Khan University Hospital to put up an ultra-modern building in the premises.

Sonko announced that the new project would take a span of two years and it would see the facility renamed to Sonko Pumwani Women’s Hospital and College of Midwifery.

During the Sunday visit, Sonko also rewarded a security guard who foiled a child theft attempt.

He promised Ksh50,000 to any other security guard at the facility who would stop any such attempts in the future.
