FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who was named the Man of the Match after his brace against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, has equaled a UEFA Champions League record held by longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Argentine scored his side’s third and fourth goal in their 4-2 win at Wembley, taking his tally for the 2018/19 UCL campaign to five strikes after just two games.

Overall, Messi has now scored 105 Champions League goals for FC Barcelona, equaling the competition record for the most goals for a single club.
His longstanding rival Ronaldo has scored 105 of his 120 Champions League goals in the colours of Real Madrid – a record now matched by Messi.
The Portugal captain, however, scored his tally in just 101 games for Los Blancos, while Messi needed 127 appearances to reach his 105th goal in the tournament.
