Migori senatorial aspirant Eddy Oketch has come out to dismiss claims that deputy president William Ruto is the sponsor behind his campaign.
Speaking to reporters, Oketch denied the claims made by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho that he is in any way linked to the DP.
The 27-year-old aspirant insisted that his campaign is independent of the political bigwigs stating that he is vying on the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) ticket.
“The people of Migori should close their ears to the propaganda being peddled by my opponents,” he advised.
The ODM deputy party leader had accused DP Ruto of attempting to scuttle the efforts of the Opposition in the county.
“The Migori senate race is a battle between Raila Odinga and the deputy president who is trying to raid the opposition’s political backyard through the Federal party candidate,” he accused.
DP Ruto has avoided exchanges with the Opposition except for his past accusation that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was trying to kick him out of the Jubilee party.
The former PM toured Migori on Thursday where he emphasized that the controversial Constitutional Referendum was inevitable.
He stated: “No one can stop an idea whose time has come,” adding, “as cries of a frog that will not stop cattle from drinking water.
