Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, says that the ongoing feud between Mourinho and Paul Pogba is ‘embarrassing’ for everyone involved.

It has been another week of discontent at Old Trafford on and off the pitch, with a run of poor results culminating in a defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

Last weekend the Red Devils could only draw with newly-promoted Wolves before they crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Championship side Derby.

Away from the pitch, the ongoing feud between Mourinho and Pogba has showed no sign of stopping after the midfielder criticised his manager for not playing more attacking football at home.

Pogba was then stripped of the vice captaincy role at the club and left out of the match day squad for the game with Derby.

The Portuguese boss then chose to omit the club’s highest earner Alexis Sanchez from the squad for the defeat to West Ham, while Pogba was taken off after 70 minutes.

And pundit Ian Wright took aim at Mourinho on BBC Radio 5 Live, branding the current situation at Old Trafford ‘embarrassing’.

“At the end of the day, do you think Man Utd fans will sing Jose Mourinho’s name when he is gone? If he’s gone?” he said.

“I’m not hearing too much from Man Utd fans singing Mourinho now to show him support or anything.

“He’s starting to lose them as well because what I think what he’s doing now is embarrassing Man Utd and their fans. It’s embarrassing.

“What’s going on at Man Utd, a club I respected because they were the ones you had to beat, they were the ones you tried to reach and now we’re watching it all come apart because of two massive egos.

“Just like Chris Sutton said it’s totally ripping Manchester United to the core in respect of embarrassment.”

United currently find themselves in tenth spot in the Premier League, already nine points behind rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

And the Red Devils welcome Valencia to Old Trafford on Tuesday in the Champions League as they look to salvage their season.

Meanwhile, Nemanja Matic has issued a rallying call to his Manchester United team-mates, saying they will find out who the leaders in the squad are when they take on Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday.

United are under increasing pressure following their 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday, which has left them 10th in the Premier League having lost three of their seven matches.

Jose Mourinho is unfazed by reports that his future as United manager is under threat, while his relationship with midfielder Paul Pogba remains under scrutiny after the pair had a public falling out on the training ground.

Speaking on Monday, Mourinho said some players “care more than others” and Matic has urged the leaders in the dressing room to step-up against Valencia.

“The leaders need to be on the pitch,” Matic said. “The leaders are not scared to play, so we will see tomorrow who are the leaders.

Jose Mourinho responds to questions about his Man Utd players not caring by saying “you can be laughing but be the saddest person in the world”.

“Everyone has a responsibility. We have spoken between us and we know the situation is not good and we can do better. Everyone is trying to do more for the team. Tomorrow is a great chance to do that against a big team. I expect everyone will give more and be more concentrated.”
