Ed Woodward Identifies Perfect Mourinho Replacement

Jose Mourinho is under increasing pressure at Manchester United, that’s no secret.

Results haven’t been going the way of the Old Trafford club and there doesn’t appear to be a plan in place to turn things around.

In the Premier League Manchester United have lost three of their opening seven fixtures, meaning they are already nine points behind title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City. They were also recently knocked out the Carabao Cup by Championship outfit Derby.

To make matters worse there are problems off the pitch too and Mourinho has clashed with both Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez in recent weeks.

Manchester United vice-executive chairman Ed Woodward isn’t prepared to wield the axe and part company with the Portuguese just yet.

But he will certainly be taking a closer look at Mourinho and his importance to the club in the coming weeks, especially if results continue to go against United.

Zinedine Zidane’s name has been bandied about in recent weeks as a possible replacement to Mourinho, should he leave his post.

But according to The Independent, the former Real Madrid boss isn’t the man at the top of Woodward’s managerial wishlist.

Instead, it has been reported that he is looking closer to home for a possible Mourinho replacement, and considers Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino to be the perfect candidate.

The Argentine’s first job in English football was with Southampton before he was named Spurs boss back in 2014. He has since turned them into a competent top four team.
