Veteran Kikuyu musician Joseph Kamath has passed on.
The musician who has been unwell died on Wednesday night at the MP Shar Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment. His death was formally announced by the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Arts and Culture Richard Echesa on social media.

Various government officials have been visiting the musician who took the music scenes by storm through 70s and 80s. Mr. Kamaru, who started singing in 1956, is popularly known for his hits like Tiga Kuhenia Igoti and Uthoni Wa Mbathini among others.
“He was diagnosed with Parkinson plus, a nerve disease which we believe is the main cause of his death. But we thank God for giving him to us,” Mr Maina told the Nation.

Several MPs from the Central Kenya Region have been coming to the rescue of the veteran Musician. Among the Members of Parliament were nominated MP Maina Kamanda, Kangema Mp Muturi Kigano and Alice Wahome the MP for Kandara. The three visited him at his home and urged more Kenyans to come out and help the musician.
Maina Kamanda said he grew up listening to his songs which had great lifestyle lessons and seeing him in his condition didn’t make him happy urging Kenyans to come out and help him.
