Mbappe or Sterling? Manchester City boss gives his preferred player

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has dismissed rumours linking Kylian Mbappe to a move to the Etihad.

It was reported that the Citizens were lining up a £200million bid for the French international as a replacement for Raheem Sterling but Guardiola insists such reports are well wide of the mark.

“That is not going to happen. Sometimes I don’t understand where the news comes from. Manchester City aren’t going to spend the money that Mbappe deserves, or that PSG deserves. PSG are not going to sell this kind of player to any other club in the world in the next years, I guess,” he said.

“Mbappe is not going to come here, we are not going to swap Raheem or another top player that we have. People should be more respectful of PSG and respectful of Manchester City,” he added.

The Premier League defending champions kicked off their Champions League campaign on the wrong foot, losing the opening match to Lyon a fortnight ago. Guardiola’s side will take on Hoffenheim on Tuesday night and the Spaniard admitted that his side is under pressure to deliver
