This is Why Ruto might be the official opposition leader

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday said he will not allow the handshake deal between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to break the Jubilee government.

While Speaking  during a ceremony to handover 3,000 title deeds to squatters in Majaoni Kisauni constituency in Mombasa, Ruto said he is well prepared to deal with outsiders who want to bring chaos in Jubilee.

Ruto said he knows the details and contents of the handshake that saw President Kenyatta and Odinga agree on burying political differences for the sake of the country.

He said the handshake is not a license to allow ODM to bring confusion, propaganda and conmanship into Jubilee.

“We are very clear about where we are going. We have led governments, therefore, our brothers should not try and interfere with us,” said Ruto.

Ruto said ODM came on board to help Jubilee develop Kenya, but not to break Jubilee.

“If they think they will break the government, let me warn them that we are very alert. If they were able to succeed in lying to Kenyans during Kanu days and NASA days, then you have no space in Jubilee,” said Ruto.

The DP said they are committed to unite Kenya and developing the country.

Ruto’s comments come after ODM Director of Elections and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed blamed the Deputy President for the chaos in parliament during the debate on the Finance Bill 2018.

However, considering the fact that the handshake brought Odinga in the government, Ruto might be playing a role of overseeing the government, which is played by the opposition.

Kenyans on twitter have reacted to Ruto’s move, with some declaring him as the Kenya’s new official opposition leader.
