Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has said it will take Deputy President William Ruto another 5o years to achieve what ODM leader Raila Odinga has achieved politically.
This comes after Ruto claimed that Raila was was using the handshake to undermine him. The DP claimed Raila and his allies were using ‘conmanship, gossip, witch-hunt and propaganda’ to antagonise the Jubilee leadership and destabilise the ruling party.
He added that the “elaborate” scheme to break up Jubilee would not happen because its leaders were alert and were prepared to safeguard its interests. Ruto claimed Raila and his team had taken advantage of the handshake to try to destroy the ruling party by “importing chaos” and trying to edge him out of Jubilee.
Speaking at Majaoni settlement scheme in Kisauni, Mombasa County, where he issued 3,000 title deeds yesterday, the DP said: “I want to state categorically that we have no space for propaganda, gossip, confusion and conmanship in our party and Government.”
He said the handshake was meant to foster unity among Kenyans. “They are trying to import chaos into Jubilee and eventually break it up.
We are not going to allow this scheme. It will remain a day dream,” he added.
The deputy president claimed those who have hatched the plot to destroy Jubilee were determined to push him out of the ruling party the way they threw him out of ODM.
But it seems the allegations have not gone down well with ODM, as Junet Mohamed who is the minority whip in the national assembly has sensationally claimed that Ruto is trying to leave Jubilee to further his political ambition and is just using ODM as a scapegoat.
“He has left Kanu, UDM, URP. He left like five parties. We know for him to leave Jubilee is not a big deal. But he is looking for a scapegoat to leave and that kind of politics is no longer entertained.” Junet said at Wilson’s Airport.
He further warned the DP not to interfere with the building bridges initiative because they (ODM) will expose him to Kenyans for who he is.
“It will take William Ruto another 50 years to achieve what Raila has achieved politically in this country- If he continues with the name-calling, we know what he is and we are going to tell Kenyans what he is!”
On Saturday, Junet dragged Ruto’s name into the chaos witnessed in the House during the vote on the Finance Bill.
According to the ODM lawmaker, Ruto met a group of about 30 MPs drawn from both Jubilee and ODM for a session where strategies of scuttling the bill were extensively discussed.
“He hosted them in Karen with a view to not only show he has the numbers in parliament but also to use it as a weapon against the handshake.
“Some of those who attended the meeting say the aim was to make Raila look insincere and unreliable given he had given his commitment to Uhuru that he would support the bill,” he said adding, “the DP has brewed rebellion in both Jubilee and ODM.”
