‘Supa Modo Film’ nominated for the Oscars

‘Supa Modo’ has been selected for the Oscars, the film highlights the plight of a single mother raising a mentally ill child.. ‘ Njata’ which is also a Kenyan movie was also disqualified from nomination after it emerged that the film was not released on a red carpet event and its premiere was screened at a community hall. Another film that was disqualified is the Rafiki film; a lesbian movie had been submitted for an Oscar nomination under the Best Foreign Language Film category.

It was officially released on 18th February 2018

The director’s name is Likarion Wainaina. Some of the chracters include Nyawara Ndambia, Stycie Waweru, Johnson Gitau Chege.

The film is about a story of a young girl whose dream of becoming a superhero is threatened by terminal illness, inspiring her village to rally together to make her dream come true.

The film represented Kenya in Cape Town International Film Market and Festival (CTIFMF) after the announcement of the official selection of feature films for the 2018 edition of the festival.

The director ha done several films and his intention is to change the perception of Africa through his movies.
