Kenyans heap praise on Waihiga Mwaura after BBC award

A Kenyan journalist and TV presenter has won this year’s BBC World News Komla Dumor Award.

Waihiga Mwaura presents Kenya’s most-watched evening news bulletin on Citizen TV.As part of the prize, he will spend three months at the BBC in London and travel back to the continent to report on a story there.

Previously, he was the host of Citizen Extra, a daily 3-hour news and curretnt affairs show with all the latest local and international updates.

He has attended media training programs conducted by the BBC in London, CNN in Zambia, Reuters in Nairobi and the Turkish Radioa and Televison Corporation in Antalya.

The award was created to honour Komla Dumor, a presenter for BBC World News, who died suddenly aged 41 in 2014.

Following this amazing feat, Kenyans were quick to congratulate the Royal Media journalist..
