Not me! Gor Mahia skipper denies appealing for help

Gor Mahia skipper Harun Shakava has denied the allegations that his rent was paid by fans and has termed the 12 000 received

Rumours had it that the centre-back had been locked out of his house by the landlord and the team’s fan came out to save Shakava by settling his rent. He, in an exclusive story carried by the club’s website, admits that he received some cash from fans and that he never asked for it.

“Let me put it straight and clear that nobody paid for my rent. I received Sh12,000 as a gift from a group of fans, I never asked for it. It was abnormal and it’s in bad taste to post my pictures on social media with an appeal. I was not aware of the idea behind it but it gave a very wrong impression – that l was in desperate need of help. Maybe l made a wrong decision to accept the gift because it created issues which were not good.” Shakava said.
