However, many have theorised that he is not attending as he does not believe he will win the main prize.
Luka Modric is the favourite to take home the gong, and in the process become the first man to win the award since 2007 that isn’t Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Ronaldo skipped on the UEFA player-of-the-year awards, reportedly because he believed he would not win.
The Portuguese star denied claims that he already knew he would not win the UEFA Best Player award. Initial reports suggested that the results had been given in advance to Ronaldo and his team, which is why he snubbed the event.
