Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has released a statement saying that Migori governor Zachari Okoth Obado and his two personal Assistants will be charged with the offense of murder and aiding and abetting the commission of the killing of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
According to the DPP, all the people who have been implicated in the heinous murder are either employees of the Migori County Government or people or close acquaintances of the governor assigned to handle the matter carefully.
Investigations have also revealed that the governor was not happy about Sharon’s pregnancy and that was the main motive behind the killing.

‘Human life is sacrosanct and must be respected by all persons irrespective of their social, economic or political standing in society.’ reads part of the statement.
Governor Obado was arraigned in a Milimani court on Monday morning where he denied the charges of killing Sharon. He will spend the night at Industrial Area Police Station pending his bail application.
