A Non-Governmental Organisation has protested the decision to omit murdered university student Sharon Otieno’s baby from the charge sheet, in the case against Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
The lobby group, CitizenGo has written to Director of Public Prosecutions and DCI George Kinoti protesting for ignoring the killing of the 7 months unborn baby.
They argue that human life starts at conception and that the DCI should not disregard the fact that Sharon’s child was buried as a human being.
According to the postmortem report by Government pathologist Johansen Odour, the baby died after a knife stab, a fact they insist should not be ignored.
The Governor is currently being held at Industrial Area remand until Tuesday, when his bail application will be decided at 2pm after denying the murder charge.
Obado was arraigned before Lady Justice Jessie Lessit of the Criminal Division following his arrest on Friday.
The arrest came two days after the outcome of a DNA test that confirmed Obado as the father of the seven-month-old fetus.
Michael Oyamo, Obado’s Personal Assistant, was the first person of interest to be arrested over the murder after Nation newspaper journalist Barack Oduor who had been abducted alongside Sharon named him.
Oduor had named Oyamo as the person who had invited him and the slain university student to a hotel from where the abduction plot is said to have been executed.
