Four people were killed on Monday in a nasty road accident at the Eveready junction on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. Among those who perished were two prison warders in the fatal crash which involved a prisons lorry, a fuel tanker, a matatu and a truck. 20 others sustained serious injuries in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of a lorry belonging to the Kenya Prisons Service that was headed to Nakuru town lost control at Soilo bridge before ramming into a 14-seater matatu, injuring the passengers.
According to the Daily Nation, Rift Valley Traffic Enforcement Officer Zero Arome while confirming the incident, said the two warders died on the spot.
“Two prison warders who were in the lorry died on the spot while two other people died while receiving treatment at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital,” said Mr Arome.
