Aubemeyang Slams Gabon for Appointing his Sick Father as Coach

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken to social media to vent. Aubameyang, 29, is undoubtedly the most famous footballer Gabon has ever produced.

In the past few days, however, the Gabonese FA have fallen out with the Arsenal centre-forward. That’s after the Gabon FA announced that Pierre Francois Aubameyang has been appointed as a new coach.

You may have assumed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be happy his dad has started a new job. But that’s definitely not the case, as Aubameyang has slammed the Gabonese FA on his Instagram account.

Aubameyang has written a lengthy post to explain that his dad has never agreed to the position. This is a particularly sensitive issue for Aubameyang as his dad is unwell.

In his social media post, Aubameyang accused his national FA of “amateurism”. Moreover, the Arsenal striker has suggested his may quit international football:

“The day the federation stops being amateurish maybe the national team will be able to progress and once again earn some good results. You ask yourselves why I have problems with you? Why I don’t want to come and play for the national team? Well you have just shown why once more.”
