Funniest and best Celebrations in the English Premier League

10 ) Eric Cantona – The Swagger

The arrogance of this goal and celebration make this one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history. Cantona, collar up, squeezes on to this list with the French swagger only he could pull off.

9) Temuri Ketsbaia – The Anger

Ketsbaia only scored eight goals in his three years on Tyneside in the late 90’s so you can see why he was delighted with this one. His delight turned to sheer anger as he took it out on a Mcdonald’s advertising hoarding apparently because he was left out of the starting line-up.

8) Shefki Kuqi – The Swan Dive

Shefki Kuqi will always be remembered for this completely bonkers celebration. He mainly played in the lower leagues but did enjoy spells in the Premier League with Blackburn and Newcastle. Wait for the second goal in this video.

7) Lomana Lua Lua – The Acrobat

Lua Lua was a flamboyant player but that has nothing on his goal celebrations. He must have given his manager a heart attack every time he scored! More backflips than Team GB…

6) Wayne Rooney – The Boxer

Wayne Rooney had been hitting the headlines off the pitch when Manchester United took on Tottenham. A video had been leaked of Wayne being knocked out by Phil Bardsley when they were boxing in his kitchen and Rooney’s mockery of it went down a treat. (Rather like he did)

5) Luis Suarez – The Diver

Now we are getting to the good stuff. Luis Suarez had been criticised by then respected and highly regarded Everton manager David Moyes for diving. The Merseyside derby came around, Suarez scored and took it out on the Scot in a hilarious manner. Bonus point to Brendan Rodgers for clapping along.

4) Jimmy Bullard – The Gaffer

The previous season, with his side 5-1 down at the Etihad, Hull manager Phil Brown took the unusual step of doing his half-time team talk on the pitch in front of the travelling fans. The following season with football’s resident jester Jimmy Bullard as captain, the Tigers snatched a draw with a penalty and Bullard created one of the finest celebrations in history.

3) Mario Balotelli – The ‘Why Always Me?’

Not only was this one of the greatest games in Premier League history but it also featured one of the best goals. Man City’s resident ‘bad boy’ Mario Balotelli needs no introduction. His off the field antics such as letting off fireworks in his house, visiting a school to use their toilet and throwing a dart at a youth player. Why always you hey Mario?

2 ) Alan Shearer – The Classic

It’s not all jokes and games here. Sometimes you just must admire a classic celebration that we saw hundreds of times in the Premier League. Score a belting goal. Raise one arm. No messing about from the Premier League’s greatest ever goal scorer.

1 ) Emmanuel Adebayor – The Full Pitch Sprint

Ahh the ever-controversial Emmanuel Adebayor takes our top spot for this absolute belter. He made his name in England at Arsenal spending three years with the club before moving on to Manchester City. In his first game against his former club he scores a header before sprinting the length of the pitch to knee slide in front of a seething away end. Forget respecting former club by not celebrating, this is how you do it.
