New fuel prices released, minutes after Uhuru signed VAT law

New prices of fuel products have been announced, just minutes after President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law the Finance Bill 2018. The new law will see fuel products attract eight percent VAT, down from the 16 percent initially introduced by Treasury CS Henry Rotich.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) released the new retail prices indicating super petrol will be sold at between Sh114 and Sh124 depending on the location.

Diesel will retail at between Sh105.50 and Sh115.81.

Kerosene, which will now attract a Sh18 adulteration levy, will be more expensive with its prices mirroring those of diesel (Sh105.78-116.09).
