Arsenal favourites to win Europa League, here are the reasons

After winning the UEFA Europa League three consecutive times with Sevilla before joining Paris Saint Germain, Unai Emery’s experience has got Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan believing that they can win the competition.

Emery first guided Sevilla to victory back in 2014, a success that opened up the door to three consecutive Europa League titles which set a record, becoming the first side to win three consecutive titles in the competition. Mkhitaryan also has some experience in the competition winning it back in 2017 with his former side Manchester United.

The Armenian believes that Emery’s experience will come in handy, “He [Emery] has won this competition three times and it’s very important to us, for Arsenal, because we’re playing in this competition to win.”

The Arsenal midfielder wants to get a route to the Champions League by winning the competition, “We’re not just playing to participate. It’s very important because if you win then you can get a spot in the Champions League, so we’re trying to win every game and we will see where we get to.”

Arsenal started their Europa League campaign with a 4-2 win over Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava on Thursday night.
