What Man United duo can learn from Liverpool – Legend speaks

According to football pundit and former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves.

Luke Shaw has impressed for United so far this season after a difficult time under Jose Mourinho.

The 23-year-old has struggled to be a regular starter ever since breaking his leg early in the 2015/16 season.

He has often been publicly criticised by Mourinho but seems to have turned his career around.

Both he and Dalot started the Champions League win over Young Boys last night and Hargreaves was pleased with what he saw.

And he hopes they can follow the same path of Robertson and Alexander-Arnold, who have both nailed down starting spots at Liverpool.

Owen said, “At that time (of Shaw breaking his leg), he was flying,” Hargreaves said he was exceptional in that left-back position. So I think to come back from that takes time. The one thing, even Van Gaal criticised a bit, was maybe his work ethic at times. That comes from training everyday, you’ve got to show the manager that you want to play”.

He also added that probably Shaw been one of United’s best players this season so far.

He added saying, “Maybe the young United full-backs can emulate the two terrific full-backs from Liverpool – Robertson and Alexander-Arnold.”

Dalot was making his Manchester United debut last night after joining from Porto in the summer.

And Hargreaves reckons the 19-year-old has a promising future.

Owen added, “This kid I like, he’s got something, he’s a terrific crosser of the ball, look at that for a cross.

“Technically he’s quite good as well, we saw some step-overs in there as well.”
