In an unfortunate incident, his father was reported missing on April 21, while driving along Mwea-Embu road. The family made a public appeal on social media groups to help trace him. Maina was a businessman dealing with export of horticultural produce. He leased farms in different part of Embu and Kirinyaga where he planted horticultural produce.
Her family, fans and Kenyans in general came out in large numbers to share the post indicating that his father was missing. The police also took part in this course.
Months later, his dad’s body was found in Embu at the bottom of the river. Sources revealed that the body was badly disfigured having stayed in the water for close to four months.
Days after this revelation,Joyce drafted a very painful message to inform people what had happened. “Dear friends, family and fans. My dad’s car and body was found at the bottom of a river in Embu yesterday. The family had been praying for some kind of closure in that month. When I blew out my birthday candle last week that’s actually what I wished for…” Joyce broke these sad news on the social media platform.
Even through this difficult time; family, fans and her friends stood with her despite the unclear circumstances and mystery around his death.
