Top Atletico Defender rejects Man Utd’s offer

Atletico Madrid and Lucas Hernandez turned down business from Manchester United  according to a report.

Marca claim that United made an €80million bid for the defender in the summer, but that was rejected by Atletico, while the player also turned down the transfer.

United were so desperate to lure Hernandez this summer that they offered to double the player’s £100,000-plus salary, according to the Spanish outlet.

Hernandez, only in June, signed a new deal at the Wanda Metropolitano to keep him tied to the club until 2024, while his release clause was upped to the €80million that Ed Woodward put on the table.

Hernandez, 22, told Marca: “Atletico Madrid are the club of my life, they’ve given me everything and I’m very happy with my renewal because it was what I wanted most.

“They’ve always trusted me, since I came into the youth team and gambled on me, I’m very grateful.”

Manchester United are still tracking the center-back, who can also play at left-back, after scouting him last summer.

Don Balon reported he was on Jose Mourinho’s radar earlier this summer and the French star is still on United’s wanted list.
