More good news for Arsenal ahead of tough month

Unai Emery has received some good Arsenal injury news from the treatment room ahead of this weekend’s game against Newcastle United.

The Gunners will welcome Alex Iwobi back to the squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash at St James’ Park after the attacker missed the win at Cardiff City due to illness.

Kolasinac injured knee ligaments during the pre-season game with Chelsea in Dublin and was not expected to return to training until the late October, but that date has now been pushed forward to the early part of next month.

And Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also now due back in early October having fractured his left fibula against Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

The midfielder was originally due back in November, but that time frame has now been significantly reduced following extensive work with the medical department at London Colney.

Having Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles back early will be a major boost to Unai Emery, with the League Cup and Europa League campaigns about to get underway.

Laurent Koscielny is still due to return to full training in November as he continues to work his way back from the ruptured Achilles he suffered against Atletico Madrid in May.

In the final piece of Arsenal injury news, Carl Jenkinson is expected to be fit enough to link up with the squad once again in late October/early November following his ankle sprain.
